Winter Gardenz Glasshouses, Greenhouses & Shade Houses

The Winter Gardenz range gives you a serious, made-for-Australia growing structure in three glazing options: toughened glass, twin-wall polycarbonate, or shade mesh. Every model shares the same rust-free aluminium frame and 6ft width, from a compact 6x6ft starter through to a full 6x20ft setup. Prices currently range from $2,635 to $9,235.

Glasshouse, Greenhouse or Shade House?

All three share the same footprint and aluminium frame. The glazing is what sets them apart.

Glasshouses

4mm toughened glass for maximum light transmission. Best if you want the clearest, most greenhouse-traditional look and the most light for sun-hungry plants.

Greenhouses

6mm twin-wall polycarbonate. Diffuses light and traps warmth for better thermal performance than glass, making it a forgiving, all-season option for beginners.

Shade Houses

Perforated aluminium shade mesh instead of solid panels. Filtered shade and airflow rather than full weather protection, suited to hardening off seedlings or shade-loving plants.

What Size Should I Choose?

Every model is 6ft (approx. 1972mm) wide, so the choice comes down to length. A 6x6ft unit is a true square footprint, ideal for balconies, courtyards or tiny yards as an entry point into the range. Step up through 6x8ft, 6x10ft and 6x12ft for a proper backyard growing space, or go to 6x16ft and 6x20ft if you want room to walk between beds, add shelving, or run it as a dedicated potting and propagation area. All lengths use the same frame design and glazing options, so you can size up without changing the style.

Features Worth Looking For

  • ✓ Rust-free aluminium frame
Matt-black powder-coated finish backed by a non-fade warranty, built for Australian conditions and high wind zones.
  • ✓ Lockable door and roof vents
Secure access as standard, with roof vents for ventilation and automatic vent openers available as an accessory.
  • ✓ Integrated gutter and aluminium base
Rainwater gutter system and aluminium base included, with foundation mounting options to suit most sites.
  • ✓ Designed and made in Australia & NZ
Built for local conditions, with foundation plans provided for every model before you install.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the glasshouse, greenhouse and shade house?

All three share the same footprint and aluminium frame, but the glazing differs. The glasshouse uses 4mm toughened glass for maximum light transmission, the greenhouse uses 6mm twin-wall polycarbonate for stronger insulation and UV protection, and the shade house uses perforated aluminium mesh for filtered shade rather than full weather protection.

Is a 6x6ft a good size for a first greenhouse?

Yes. At around 1972mm square, the 6x6ft is the smallest and most affordable size in the range, making it a good entry point for balconies, tiny yards or beginner gardeners. The same design is also available in 8ft, 10ft, 12ft, 16ft and 20ft lengths if you need more room later.

AVR Generator vs Inverter Generator

Both are excellent, but they are built for different jobs.

AVR Generators

Use automatic voltage regulation to hold a steady voltage as the load changes, which suits power tools, pumps, motors and higher output backup. Available in petrol and diesel from around 5kVA up to nearly 14kVA, they are the workhorses for farms, worksites and whole property backup.

Inverter Generators

Produce clean, quiet power that is ideal for sensitive electronics and lighter loads, and they are more portable. If you mainly need to run laptops, phones and a few essentials quietly, see our inverter generators range instead.

How Much Power Do I Need? Understanding kVA

AVR generators are usually rated in kVA, and the usable output in kilowatts is a little lower, so a 5kVA unit delivers roughly 4kW of real power. Add up the running watts of everything you want to power at once, then allow headroom for the surge that motors, pumps and compressors draw when they start. As a rough guide, 5kVA suits essential circuits and tools; around 7kVA suits a busy home or small worksite; and 11kVA to 13.9kVA handles a farm shed, multiple large loads or whole property backup. Note that the S12000 11.9kVA is a single phase unit. Prices in this range currently start from $1,775. See each product page for exact running and peak output.

AVR Generator Features Worth Looking For

Not every job needs every feature, but these are the ones that matter most for output and reliability.

  • Automatic voltage regulationHolds a steady voltage as the load changes, which protects tools, motors and appliances from voltage swings.
  • Petrol or diesel optionsChoose petrol for a lower purchase price, or diesel for better fuel economy and durability on long, heavy runs.
  • Honda powered enginesSelect models run a Honda engine, known for reliable starting and strong parts and service support.
  • Electric startStart at the push of a button rather than pulling a cord, which is welcome on the larger units.

Petrol or Diesel: Which Should I Choose?

Petrol generators cost less to buy, tend to be lighter, and are a solid choice for occasional or backup use. Diesel generators cost more upfront but use less fuel, run cooler under sustained load and generally last longer, which makes them the pick for farms, frequent use and long running jobs. If you expect to run the generator hard and often, diesel usually pays off over time; if it is mainly for occasional backup, petrol is the easier entry point.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does AVR mean?

AVR stands for automatic voltage regulation. It keeps the generator's output voltage stable as the load changes, which protects connected tools and appliances from the voltage swings that can occur on an unregulated generator.

Can an AVR generator power my house?

Yes, with a proper changeover switch installed by a licensed electrician. Larger single phase and three phase units have specific requirements, so it is important to have the connection set up correctly. Never plug a generator straight into a wall socket. Contact us to check what a specific model needs.

Are these suitable for power tools and motors?

Yes. Steady regulated voltage and higher output make AVR generators well suited to power tools, pumps and motors. Just check the surge rating against the startup draw of the largest motor you plan to run.

Do you offer a price match guarantee?

Yes. Found it cheaper elsewhere? Let us know and we will do our best to beat it.

Delivery Information

AVR generators are heavy items, and the larger units travel as bulkier freight, so delivery is quoted individually to get you the best price. Timing depends on your location and the size of the unit. Get in touch with your postcode for a shipping quote.
